about

This track started off as an instrumental guitar duet, with a section in a minor key in the middle. Once the lyrics were liberated, that section went off the record and the second guitar got replaced by fiddle, accordion and recorder. Much more satisfying, especially with the crooked 2 step rhythm.

lyrics

Chorus
Oh Cherie, come a little closer in the moonlight
Don't you love apple blossom time
Oh Cherie, come a little closer will you kiss me
One more time, tell me that you're mine

Out on the tractor in the afternoon
Juicing apples by the light of the moon
Play a little guitar drink a little wine'
Got to tell you 'bout a plan of mine

Chorus
Oh Cherie, come a little closer in the moonlight
Don't you love apple blossom time
Oh Cherie, come a little closer will you kiss me
One more time, tell me that you're mine

Can't count on the sun, can't count on the rain
Never know when pain is gain
How 'm I gonna prove my love is true
When I'm stuck here in the kitchen with the apple jack blues

Chorus
Oh Cherie, come a little closer in the moonlight
Don't you love apple blossom time
Oh Cherie, come a little closer will you kiss me
One more time, tell me that you're mine
